MP Takes Up Emissions Challenge

Walthamstow MP Neil Gerrard is joining a group of MPs taking up the challenge to reduce their own contribution to carbon emissions by 25% over the next five years. The MPs are doing this to try to take a lead and show that they practice what they preach. The aim is to give a boost to the slow pace of voluntary efforts to reduce carbon emissions and global warming.

“We can all make our own personal contribution to cutting back on carbon emissions” said Mr Gerrard. The electricity and gas we use in our homes, and the fuel we use when travelling, can all mean more emissions.”

“What each of us who is involved in the challenge will be doing is first of all to calculate our current level of carbon dioxide emissions from our normal activity, and then to look at how we can cut it down. This could mean energy saving at home, or looking at alternative means of travel.”

A leaflet is available from Neil Gerrard MP for anyone who wants to see how they might make a personal contribution to energy saving and cutting back on carbon dioxide emissions.
