MP Backs Healthy Eyes Campaign Neil Gerrard, Labour MP for Walthamstow, has given his backing to a new charity campaign to improve the public's awareness of eye health. The Guide Dogs for The Blind Association has joined forces with national not-for-profit healthcare provider HealthSure to launch the Healthy Eyes Campaign. Mr Gerrard was at the launch of the campaign last week in the House of Commons. He said "Many eye diseases, such as cataracts and glaucoma can be stopped in their tracks if they are caught in the early stages and treated. Anyone who has any worries about their eyes should make sure they get them tested, and not delay." The campaign includes a new website www.healthyeyes.org.uk and a pocket booklet, The little Book of Healthy Eyes. They offer tips on how to look after your eyes and what happens when you have an eye test. "I would encourage everyone to find out how they can look after their eyes, and avoid eyesight problems" said Mr Gerrard. November 2003
