This website is about my work as the Labour MP for Walthamstow.

I believe that it is important that people know what you stand for in politics and in all of my time in Parliament since 1992 I have tried to be honest about my views on any issue. That's why my personal opinions are on this site, not the latest official press releases. If you want those use the 'Other Sites' page to get to the appropriate site.

Use the 'Contact me' page to send me an email or ask me a question, but check the Site Index or Search first to see if the issue you are interested in is already dealt with somewhere on the site.

To see my views on a range of current issues, and archived press releases and articles, use the 'News & Views' page. Go to the 'In Parliament' page to see what I have done in Parliament.

I will always try to give help and advice to any constituent with a problem, but I can't offer help to anyone who doesn't live in Walthamstow. The 'Help & Advice' page gives details of my advice surgeries.

Neil Gerrard is currently recovering from heart bypass surgery which means that he is not able to attend Parliament or constituency events at present. He hopes to be back to full fitness and back to work in the next few weeks. In the meantime Neil's staff will try to help constituents with problems.

Standing down

I have decided that I will stand down from Parliament at the next General Election. This is entirely a personal decision and not for political reasons. I will continue to do all I can to represent people in Walthamstow in the time before the election. Stella Creasy has recently been selected as the Labour candidate for Walthamstow for the next election .... More

Hajj Pilgrimages

Are you considering a Hajj Pilgrimage? I have had complaints, as have other MPs, about a small minority of the people who advertise and arrange Hajj visits to Saudi Arabia. I have produced a short guide which will help you to make sure you are travelling with a reputable tour operator..... More

Annual Report

Each year I publish a report to constituents. My 2007 report has been published. It should have been delivered to everyone living in Walthamstow, but this is always difficult to guarantee. If you didn't get a copy you can download it as a PDF file. Right click on the link and then choose 'Save target as' to download and save the report.

MPs Expenses are Published

Under the Freedom of Information Act the details of MPs expenses claims for 2006 - 2007 have just been published. I am giving full details of my claims so that constituents can see exactly how much I claimed and what it was for, not just the total figure which is all you find in the press reports ..... More
